No year is as lively as the Coburg Schützenfest, a fair known as the "Vogelschießen".
The traditional Coburg "bird shooting" always begins on Friday of the last weekend in July with the entry of the marksmen into the marquee and the beer tapping by the mayor at around 8:00 pm.
Around 11 p.m. there will be an opening fireworks display. On the 1st Sunday, the Coburg marksmen collect their marksmen's flag from the town hall as part of a procession through the town center, and on the 2nd Sunday it is returned in the evening.
Ferris wheel, loops and other rides, shooting galleries, wine and beer stands, food stalls and two marquees with live music bands offer Coburg residents and their guests a "small Oktoberfest" in the middle of Franconia for a total of 10 days.

The Coburger Convent was founded on May 12, 1951, it is an association of the Landsmannschaften and Turnerschaften at German universities. Today, the Coburger Convent (CC for short) is one of the large corporate associations with over 100 student fraternities at 45 university locations in Germany and Austria.
Every year at Whitsun, hundreds of connections from all over Germany and Austria come to Coburg. The Whitsun Congress ends with a colorful and convivial morning pint on Coburg's market square.
The German Landsmannschaften erected a monument in the Hofgarten in 1926. It shows three naked men clasping a sword and pointing it toward heaven. The virtues of the Coburg Convention are inscribed on the memorial: "Friendship, Honor, Fatherland.
